I really enjoyed hearing about Noelani Jones's experiences as an artist. I haven't heard much about fiber arts before, so the whole lecture was a new experience for me. I can't imagine how much work and time it takes to create the artwork she makes. Setting up the loom sounded extremely tedious, though trying it out sounds pretty fun. Something that especially struck me was the concept of an artist residency, which I had never heard of before. It sounds like something I'd be super interested in, especially one somewhere like Vermont. I'm wondering what an artist residency is like, what the costs are, and how the whole system works. I loved her pieces in which she incorporated aspects of nature like color schemes and parts of plants. As someone who enjoys things like sewing, I'm also thinking in general that I might be interested in working with a loom someday. I don't know where I'd get the resources for it or learn to do it since I'm not planning on an art degree, but one can hope.
